Hello, this is a bit of a long shot but my name is Richard Eke, I am currently living in switzerland and trying to restore a swiss market 1974 kreidler florett TM that was a barn find but i am having trouble with locating parts, kreidler parts have not contacted me in over 3 weeks about my order and other parts supliers websites show either no stock or no prices, I was wondering if you or anyone from your club would be able to offer me any advice on the best suppliers of parts for these motorcycles. I have heard of a large supplier based in germany but cannot find any internet links to a company of the description i have been given. any help with this would be greatly appreciated, its looking a sorry state sat in boxes and I would like to get it rebuilt in time for the spring. Many thanks for any help you could offer. Richard Eke.
feel free to post the message, any help will be great! also any info on good 2stroke tuning books would be handy, while the entire bike is in parts id like to see what i could adjust or tune for a little extra pep!
Als er iemand deze man kan verderhelpen? Alvast bedankt

| Misschien dat we hem beter naar het nederlandse forum door sturen. Dat forum is beter voor technische vragen. | |

| The thing that I occure mostly is that the almost never answer to particular questions. If you just order on the "net" everything goes fine .. untill you ask them a question. If you have any trouble finding the parts what so ever you can ask here and probably we'll give you the link to make the order | |

| Indeed, a lot of webshops dont really know what they're selling. It is very important, as customer, to know which part you are looking for. There are many part lists on www.kreidler.nl where you can find the specific part number. | |

| Hier weer een mailtje van Richard, heb em aangespoord om hier wel te checken en zelf te posten...:Hello again, I was in contact with you before xmas about parts suppliers for restoring my florett, I'm currently in contact with the johnbos company after getting nowhere at all with kreidler parts (I managed to get a confirmation and pay for one out of the 3 orders I have placed and had no response regarding the other 2 I sent in)
I've since done some port working, and set I'm with designs for an expansion chamber exhaust and silencer derived from the info in the book 2 stroke performance tuning by A. graham bell that I'm manufacturing soon. I was wondering if you had come across anyone who has fitted sports farings to a florett? I have seen some yamaha fizzys fitted with sports and bikini fairings and I think it would fit with the retro racer style my rebuild seems to be taking any info on a source would be greatly appreciated.
Also regarding the engine rebuild for the vehicle do any of your members have any info on uprated bearings and components for taking higher rpms? I know kreidler parts offer different grades of bearings but after having so much trouble another supplier offering similar items would be good, or the codes on the actual uprated crankshaft, gearbox and gudgeon pin bearings would be very helpful - I work as a classic car restorer and can order bearings direct from source if anyone is willing to tell me the part numbers stamped on the bearing components themselves. I would prefer to build the bottom end once and make it unburstable than find the few mods I have done have pushed standard parts too far. As a club with some racers and tuners as members I was hoping someone could share a little information with me.
-obviously if this info is something people would rather not share due to competition I understand. really any info on building up a higher reving bottom end would be appreciated.
It is good to see BAKA is still growing, I aim to ride my florett pretty extensively once it is finished, riding it home from switzerland to the uk for the 50cc motorcycle show is one possible plan. Maybe a run to meet the guys from BAKA at a show or race could be added once the bike is finished!
feel free to offer my email address to other members if anyone wishes to contact me directly, as i have said, any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.

| Hi all, I've finally set up my account, I am Richard from Switzerland! my florett is a 1974 tm, with the 5.8 ps motor and 5 speed gearbox at the moment parts wise I am searching for a high quality rebuild kit for the engine including bearings, gaskets and seals. I have worked on the inlet and exhaust and have designs for an expansion chamber exhaust as mentioned above so bearings capable of high rpm would be better. does anyone know what the standard conrod and piston is safe to rpm wise? other than that I am looking for uprated springs and dampers and a whole host of worn out bearings and components. I'll work through the suppliers you have mentioned and see what I can find, many thanks for all the advice so far. also, do you guys have any general advice for rebuilding a florett? good parts? bad parts? tips and tricks? I work as an auto mechanic and restorer but this will be my first motorcycle and 2 stroke rebuild. anyone have any good tips? thanks again for all the help you have offered. Richard. | |

| Hi Richard, nice of you to have checked in I've seen replica Marzocchi shock absorbers here: http://www.marktplaza.nl/kreidler-van-veen-6395902.php(I contacted them already, as I'm looking for them too.) They make them themselves from 32 cm to 36 (any desired length actually) and the price is a staggering € 300! Needless to say I'm going to check them out first. | i know kreidlerparts do an uprated sports shock, but that might just be the standard part from my bike...seeing as mine are rusty with very little damping an upgrade is definately in order!
im hoping to fully pull apart the motor this week, see what bearing numbers i can find printed on things. leads on uprated ones are still appreciated! thanks all!

| oh, thats another thing, has anyone ever seen rearsets for a florett? the bars I have for it are low, so a change in foot position would also be a big help. i was thinking of machining up a set along the lines of the race frames (set off an A shaped frame on either side, welded to the spine frame) but if anyone knows where I could find ready made sets it would be brilliant! | |

| You mean racing-like steps? I'm busy building a set, there's a topic in the technical forum. As they're almost finished, I'm gonna post the rest of the pics soon. | |
